It’s That Time of the Month — in fact it’s That Time of the Year when you’ve got permission to let your inner prankster loose for a day. April Fool’s is here.
Let’s be clear: scouts are inherently do-gooders. Scouts don’t balance cups of water on top of doors waiting for innocents to walk into an unexpected rainfall. Scouts don’t replace the filling of Oreo cookies with toothpaste. Scouts don’t trip old ladies walking across the street.
But as a kid, I sure liked thinking up ways to prank my family. And I wish I’d had the Internet at my fingertips to stir up some good ideas.
I was quite surprised to learn this week that April Fool’s Day dates all the way back to Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and is “celebrated” in countries across the globe.
Apparently, we all like the idea of honoring the little red devil on our shoulder.
